Sun, sea, culture and music: in Nice, summer doesn’t fizzle out in August! Whether you’re into open-air concerts, films under the stars, thought-provoking exhibitions or sizzling street vibes, the capital of the Côte d’Azur is packed with unmissable events.

OPEN-AIR CINEMA
How about enjoying American-style outdoor film screenings under the stars of beautiful Nissa this summer? The City of Nice has pulled out all the stops to delight young and old alike with a series of free screenings in peaceful, leafy locations. On the programme: an eclectic selection of films for all ages and tastes. From timeless classics such as The Big Blue to popular comedies such as The Climb or Asterix: Mission Cleopatra, as well as animated films for the little ones, such as Finding Nemo or Moana. IMMERSIVE SOUND & LIGHT SHOW – A DAY AT THE OPERA
Following the huge success of Luminiscence at Notre-Dame Cathedral, the light show is now being staged at the Nice Opera House until 31 August. This 360° immersive spectacle showcases the majestic architecture and history-steeped walls of this iconic venue, combining technological prowess, dance and opera. Multiple showtimes have been scheduled so that everyone has a chance to enjoy it — there’s no excuse not to come and discover this luminous masterpiece! A magical moment designed to enchant young and old alike.


“BLUE OCEAN” – THE IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION AT NICETOILE
Until the end of summer, NICETOILE morphs into a true marine world. The shopping centre on Avenue Jean Médecin invites visitors on a fully immersive dive into the ocean depths, through an experience that’s both artistic, educational, and committed to protecting the environment.
Among the featured works is Ichtus, a monumental 13-metre installation by artist Daniel Mestanza, depicting a mesmerising aquatic ballet. Another key event: an impressive collection of underwater photography by Rafael Fernandez Caballero. The exhibition also features video screenings, paintings and artefacts that enrich the immersive and sensory experience offered by the exhibition. l’expérience immersive et sensorielle proposée par l’exposition.

Nice Tribute Festival
Four evenings, four legends: rediscover the greatest names in rock and pop in the heart of Nice. From 4 to 7 August, the Théâtre de Verdure will be buzzing from 8.30pm onwards with a string of exceptional concerts. Each night will celebrate a music icon. Things are set to kick off with a bang with Abba Dream, a colourful show that will set the tone. Then comes Tramp Experience, a tribute to Supertramp’s legendary hits, followed by Pink Floyd History, a spellbinding immersion into the world of the cult band. Finally, the grand finale will be Queen Symphonia, performed by a symphony orchestra to bring back to life the most iconic songs of Freddie Mercury and his bandmates.

LATIN VIBES IN OUR STREETS
Every Wednesday at 7pm, the Place du Palais de Justice turns into an open-air dance floor. Expect a sizzling atmosphere at this free event, which is open to everyone, regardless of age or level.
On the programme: classes and entertainment featuring Latin dances such as bachata, kizomba, cha-cha-cha, salsa, kompa and even rock. A weekly get-together full of festive spirit, perfect for soaking up the summer vibe — and shine at your next dance party!

LARGE-SCALE EXHIBITION “L’OCÉAN DE LÉA” (LEA’S OCEAN)
In the heart of the Port of Nice, in the new NICEA Convention Centre, let yourselves be carried away by the poetic world of the ocean reimagined by artist Junior Fritz Jacquet. A master of origami, he handcrafts stunning paper sculptures inspired by the marine world. An artistic and fantastical immersion, echoing the Year of the Sea, which invites us to reflect on the future of the oceans and the environmental issues that threaten them.


NICE STADIUM
In Nice, the Allianz Riviera Stadium is buzzing all year round, and summer is no exception. The unique atmosphere of an OGC Nice match is impossible to miss: the chants of the supporters, the eagle flying over the pitch to signal kick-off… a true Nice-style ceremony! This summer, mark these two dates in your diary: 17 August against FC Toulouse and 24 August against AJ Auxerre. Two home games that promise an electric atmosphere in red and black. Issa Nissa! (Come on Nice!)

Nice Classic Festival
For classical music lovers, August promises to be an exciting month. Starting on 1 August, let yourselves be carried away by the soulful notes of a cello concert in the auditorium of the Matisse Museum. On 3 August, poetry and passion take centre stage: the Philharmonic Orchestra takes over the cloister of the Cimiez Monastery for an evening of storytelling, combining gardens and emotions. Looking for a more Latin vibe? On 5 August, enjoy a guitar duo playing tango and flamenco. Finally, on 8 August, experience an enchanted night to the sound of the piano, with spellbinding renditions of Debussy, Rachmaninov or Ravel. Moments suspended in time, between gentleness, intensity and reverie.

“Becoming Ocean” – Villa Arson
Until 24 August, prepare to be amazed by a striking exhibition at Villa Arson. Following on from the UNOC (United Nations Ocean Conference) held in Nice, Villa Arson is hosting a thought-provoking exhibition that examines our relationship with the ocean. Major marine issues are explored from an artistic, critical and poetic perspective through the eyes of 20 international artists. The works, drawn from a variety of styles and backgrounds, express a wide range of viewpoints, covering what we know, what we don’t know, and what we sometimes choose to forget. An immersive and thought-provoking journey, where art becomes a space for reflection on the world around us.

Crossover Festival
And to make summer last a bit longer, here’s something you won’t want to miss: the Crossover Festival is back in Nice on 5 September! A must for lovers of urban music, this new edition promises to be action-packed and true to its roots: rap, hip-hop, electronica and pop will take centre stage. For two electrifying nights, the 109 will vibrate to the rhythm of headliners such as 1Plike140 and L2B, as well as local artists waiting to be discovered. A festive and eclectic event blending modern sounds and a dance hall atmosphere, with food trucks to delight the foodies.
