Master Ice-cream Makers in Nice: A Delight That’s Sure to Melt Your Heart!

Fenocchio: a must-try

Established in 1966 on the Place Rossetti in Nice’s Old Town (“Vieux-Nice”), Fenocchio quickly became a favourite with many locals, who were happy to introduce their friends visiting the area to the place. The reason for their success is simple: top-quality ingredients, traditional craftsmanship and boundless creativity! Fenocchio offers nearly a hundred flavours of ice cream and sorbet, from variations on the “classics” (don’t miss the “chilli chocolate” or the “pink peppercorn vanilla”) to the more original (will you dare try “lavender” or “chard pie”?).

Arlequin Gelati: the luxury ice cream parlour

Roberto, a Master Ice Cream Maker from Milan, has quickly built up a loyal clientele in his shop on Avenue Malausséna. His watchword? “Our ice cream is made with love”. All the flavours are freshly made daily and seasonal. The ingredients, carefully selected, result in creations that will delight the most discerning palates. Their names alone promise an extraordinary taste experience: Persépolis, Crème des anges, Fleur du Liban, Nirvana, Divine White… Something more traditional, we just loved the delicious yoghurt and coffee cone! Worth noting is the opening of their second branch, César Milano, at 43 avenue Jean Médecin.

Frisson: the concept store

Brand new and beautiful, Frisson opened its doors in the heart of Nice’s Old Town (“Vieux-Nice”) in 2024 with an innovative concept combining coffee, culture and buffalo milk ice creams. And that’s where the difference lies, because buffalo milk has the distinctive feature of being fatter, thus eliminating the need to use cream and eggs. The result is an ice cream that is lighter and less sweet on the palate. The menu offers around fifteen flavours: we recommend the white peach, which you can enjoy while browsing through their selection of books and magazines. After all, Frisson is more than just an ice cream parlour, it’s a concept store!

Le glacier du Pin: not just ice cream!

Head to the Port district, rue Cassini, to discover the creations of this artisan ice-cream maker. Here you’ll find timeless flavours (try bourbon vanilla) and more original ones (lime ginger). Those with a sweet tooth will love a crêpe, a waffle or a home-made smoothie. A little added bonus? The smile and friendliness of the owner!

Amorino: natural Italy

If you’re walking down the pedestrian street, it’s hard to miss Amorino and their two shops practically opposite each other! And that would be a shame, because their ice creams are simply delicious and original. Amorino is the quintessential Italian ice cream parlour created by two childhood friends, both Italian, who wanted to introduce people to ‘the real taste of the best Italian ice cream recipes’. The ice creams are presented in the shape of a rose in a cone or pot, and you can choose as many flavours as there are petals: as beautiful as they are delicious! When it comes to flavours, there’s plenty to choose from! Including the timeless ones (try the “Mawardi pistachio”) and limited editions, such as the “Yuzu”. All are made from natural ingredients, gluten-free, with no artificial colourings or flavourings: that’s the spirit of “gelato al naturale”!
