THE PERFECT KIT TO MAKE THE MOST OF NICE’S BEACHES THIS SUMMER

If there’s one must-do activity in Nice in August, it’s a beach day! With over 7 km of coastline linking the airport to the port via the Promenade des Anglais, our pretty city is not short of places where you can relax and enjoy the Mediterranean Sea spray.

THE PERFECT KIT TO MAKE THE MOST OF NICE’S BEACHES THIS SUMMER

Whether you’re a wave-lover or someone who just loves lounging by the water, we’ve got the must-haves you need to make the most of those relaxing moments in the summer sun.

The must-have swimwear

Swimming (or sunbathing) is a byword for swimwear. So that’s the first must-have to make up your little beach kit. This season’s trends include one-piece swimsuits and ruffled or cut-out styles. Gentlemen, if you want to be trendy this summer, we recommend you wear swim briefs, which are making a comeback on the beaches. Whatever style you’re looking for, you’ll find something that suits your taste in the shops of Nice. We suggest you visit Tyche Valérie, La Boîte à Maillots or Pain de sucre to find the swimwear you’re after.

Another must-have for basking in the sun all day on your favourite beach in Nice: a beach towel. To get noticed this summer, choose a colourful or patterned one. Our favourite styles can be found at  Bouchara, Carré Blanc or Zara Home.

Adequate sun protection

If you’re planning to sunbathe on the Côte d’Azur, you’ll need to make sure you have adequate sun protection. Choose a broad-spectrum cream with a high sun protection factor (SPF) suited to your skin type. To combine sunbathing and swimming, choose waterproof formulas and reapply every two hours! For advice on choosing your sunscreen, visit 3 of the city’s skincare experts: K-beauty, Aroma Zone and Bazar Bio!

Hats and caps

Protecting your skin isn’t enough under the Nice sun! The next must-have for a day on the beach: a hat or cap. To find trendy and original summer styles, head to Projet X Paris in the Carrefour  Lingostière shopping centre or the Charlotte Boyer boutique in Nice’s Old Town (“Vieux-Nice”).

And for optimum sun protection (and style!), complete your beach kit with a pretty pair of sunglasses. Want to find out more about the 2023 sun protection trend? Check out our article on this topic!

Beach mode 2.0

To liven up the day, switch to beach mode 2.0. For those of you who like to devour novels on the beach, head to FNAC to buy the Kobo e-reader! You’ll also find all the waterproof covers and pouches you need to protect your smartphone from the water. If you are more into background music, head to Boulanger to discover the JBL clip portable speaker, which is water and dust resistant. And to keep your little devices going all day long, we recommend buying an external battery from Hema.

And a pretty bag to hold it all in!

Your beach kit is ready, all you have to do is choose a pretty bag to carry it in. For a look that’s 100% French Riviera, go for the woven straw basket styles you’ll find at Les Trésors de Chloé, Cann’a sucre and also at Galeries Lafayette.

That’s it, now you’re ready to enjoy the beaches of Nice! Looking for a nice spot to lay your towel? Let us be your guide.
